Top Ten Most Intimidating Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
1) The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. I’ve tried and tried, people. I really have. But I just can’t seem to read them for the life of me.
2) Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. It’s just so stinkin LONG. And the movie is…well, not.
3) War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. Ditto.
4) The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I own this one, but I can guarantee it’ll take me at least five years to muster up the nerve to read it, and then actually finish it.
5) The Gone series by Michael Grant. These books. Are so very disturbing. And no one seems to realize that but me!
6) Unwind by Neal Shusterman. Everyone says that this book is really creepy, but I’m not sure how creepy. I can handle a good portion of creepy, but I do have my limit.
7) The Maze Runner series by James Dashner. I was bored out of my mind when I first tried to read this series, but everyone else seems to like it. I want to like it, guys, but it’s like trying to fit a puzzle piece into the wrong place. Ain’t gonna happen.
8) The Screwtape Letters/ Mere Christianity/ The Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis. No, I haven’t read these. Just go ahead and hate me. I tried picking these up when I was younger (early teens) and they were just too deep for me. I’d probably like them now, though.
9) Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. Award winning books, but my mom said it kept her awake at night. Like, in a bad way. So I’m not sure what to think.
10) The Elite by Kiera Cass. I’m the only person on the planet that hated the first book, The Selection. No joke. Everyone else loved it to pieces. Here the thing, though: I like the covers of these so much that I think I’m going to keep reading the series. Is that shallow or what?! And yet, I’m scared to because I know I’ll hate them. *sigh*
